A month for lovers across the world, for which we in the restaurant business are very grateful. This year, it’s a whole weekend! The day itself is Saturday, February 14, 2026, Valentine’s Day, which is almost completely booked for dinner, but think about celebrating on Friday 13th, which is getting busy already. Saturday brunch is also an option. Turn brunch into a day out, with an outing to your favorite museum, or a little shopping, antiquing, matinee. Lots of choices!

Apart from Valentine’s Day, February is a fairly slow month for us, so Sigrid and I are taking a long overdue vacation to one of our favorite places, the Oregon Coast. I know, it’s going to be cold and rainy, but we have always been lucky and walked between the raindrops, enjoying walks on the beach with the dog, art galleries, reading, relaxing, watching the ocean and the weather as it unfolds. We are celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary!

Meanwhile Iain, our son and General Manager, will be keeping the restaurant operating at its usual clip, doing his normal excellent job!
